Standards of Conduct for Urban LIFE Staff
The following standards of conduct are designed to encourage each person involved at the level of responsibility and leadership required to be staff of Urban LIFE to watch carefully concerning his or her Christian testimony. It is understood and agreed to that those at this level of leadership should, by God’s grace, adhere to the following:
Faithful attendance to all services of a local, independent, Bible-preaching church.
Faithful involvement in your Urban LIFE ministry area
Faithful witnessing. Each worker of Urban LIFE Ministries is expected to be a continual witness for Christ.
Faithful tithing to the local church. Where a person puts his or her treasure shows where his or her heart is, and a person cannot withhold the tithe without robbing God.
Faithful holiness of living. There are certain habits and activities readily bringing criticism or reproach to the cause of Christ; therefore, abstinence from the following activities or habits is required:
Consumption of any form of alcoholic beverage
Use of tobacco in any form
Sensual dancing
Gambling
Viewing improper movies
Wearing apparel or having an appearance that is suggestive, immodest, or that has worldly associations
Swearing
Faithfulness in appropriate physical relations. All workers in our ministry are expected to be continually appropriate in their physical conduct. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate physical activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that God is displeased by any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, or pornography.
Faithful loyalty to the entire program of Urban LIFE Ministries. This includes speech. If a question or problem arises, go to the person directly in charge of the situation. If the problem is not resolved to your satisfaction, you should talk to the President. If the problem is still not resolved to your satisfaction, you should take it to a meeting of the Board of Directors. Remember, a critical spirit is a divisive spirit.
